Roopkund – A Skeleton Lake or Mystery Lake. Roopkund is a mysterious and beautiful tourist destination and one of the famous places for trekking in Garhwal district, Himalayas, Uttarakhand. Roopkund is situated in Chamoli district of Garhwal (Uttarakhand). The road head for Roopkund is Lohajung 235 km from Kathgodam and 505 km from Delhi and if we use via Rishikesh then Mundoli is base camp 240 km from Rishikesh and approx 500 km from Delhi. This high altitude glacial lake in Uttarakhand state of India lies in the lap of Trishul Massif.

Roopkund is famous and a attracted attention due to a shallow lake, having a depth of about 2 metres, and hundreds of human skeletons remains easily visible at its bottom when snow melts and also found at the edge of the Lake.
The Lake is surrounded by glaciers and snow clad mountains, that make it perfect trekking destination. This place is located near the Himalayan peaks- Trishul (7120 mtrs.) and Nanda Ghuti (6310 mtrs.) that makes it amazing destination for all travellers. Most of the months during the year Roopkund lake is covered with ice.
The journey to this mysterious place is an enjoyable experience, All along the way, you will enjoy many waterfalls and landslides are visible on the extreme slopes of the surrounding mountains.

Day 01
Arrival Delhi
On arrival Delhi airport Introduction and transfer to hotel for stay or if time permits enjoy sights of Delhi. Ancient places like Kutub Minar, Red-Fort, India Gate, Crowded bazaars, Temples & Gurdwaras belog to great history of India. Over night stay at Hotel.

Day 2
Delhi – Rishikesh ( Approx 250km)

Morning after breakfast drive to Rishikesh via Haridwar. On arrival Shivpuri(Rishikesh) check in the camp, rest of the day free to leisure. The city Rishikesh is full of Temples & Ashrams and has the Yoga Institute situated here. Evening free to explore the Rishikesh. Enjoy Nature walk at the beach of the river Ganga, outdoor activitis and overnight in the camp.

Day 3
Rishikesh-Mundoli (Approx 240 km)
Today morning after break-fast drive Rishikesh to Mundoli (240 km/8-9 hrs) via Dev Prayag, Rudra Prayag and Karanprayag. Arrival at Mundoli by evening. Evening free to leisure. Dinner and overnight stay in cottage/tents in Mundoli (Uttarakhand).

Day 4
Mundoli – Wan – Bedni Bugyal (3350 mts/11000 ft)
In the morning drive towards Wan (10 km), Wan is the road head for the trek.
Today we will trek 10 to 11 km (5-6 hrs) to reach Bedni Bugyal. Bedni Bugyal is one of the best camping sites in the Garhwal Himalayas. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.
Bedni Bugyal: Bedini Bugyal is a Himalayan Alpine meadow near Wan village.One of the most impressive alpine meadows located in Uttarakhand, the Bedni Bugyal ranges are the most impressive part of the Himalayan valleys. There is a small lake situated in the midst of the meadow, where Tarpans are offered by the devotees. Situated nearby is a small temple where the devotees pay there obeisance, during their halt at Bedni Bugyal.

Day 5
Bedni Bugyal
Rest day for acclimatization/Exploratory day. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 6
Bedni Bugyal – Bagubassa (4100 mts/13450 ft)
After breakfast trek to Bagubassa. Its 10 kms upward trek and it will take near about 4-5 hrs to reach our next base campsite at Bagubassa. Up on arrival at Bagubassa set out a camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Bagua means flowery park and Basa means place. And truely the place was full of variety of flowers including the rare Bhram Kamal, a special Godly lotus found at only and between the altitudes of 14000 – 15000 ft.

Day 7
Bagubassa – Roopkund (4450 mts/14600 ft) – Bedni Bugyal
Today Morning trek for Bhagubasa to Roopkund is easy walking in the flat but in morens 30 minuts climbing with same view as last day. (4-5 hours). Kaluka Vinayak (pass) descending till to Patar nachwani. The trek to Roopkund passes through delightful alpine pasture lands and snow fields, offering magnificent views of Himalayan peaks the Trisul, the Nanda Ghunti, Badrinath peaks when the snow melts, human and equine skeletons remains can be seen. Some of them with flesh attached. These remains have been preserved in the alpine condition for centuries. It is believed that these are the remains of about 300 persons who died about 500 -600 years ago.
In the afternoon trek back to Bedni Bugyal for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8
Bedni Bugyal – Wan (2436 mts/8000 ft)
Retrace your steps towards Wan. This will take 3-4 hrs. Dinner and overnight in tents.

Day 9
Wan – Rishikesh (2200 mts /7200 ft)
Today after breakfast drive to Rishikesh. Lunch enroute. Arrival at Rishikesh by evening. Upon arrival check into camp/hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10
Rishikesh - Haridwar - Delhi(270km)
Morning After breakfast chek out from camp/hotel and drive to Haridwar. Visit the Ganga Ghat and enjoy the Ganga Snana. Afternoon back drive to Delhi, Arrival Delhi and transfer to Airport for your respective destinations. Tour terminate.
